HISTORICAL BACKGROUND & FOUNDING
Situated in the heart of Daulatpur, Khulna, Daulatpur Muhsin Girls’ High School stands as a historic center for female education, social reform, and women's empowerment in south-western Bangladesh.
In the mid-twentieth century, formal secondary schooling for young women in this region was severely limited by societal and infrastructural barriers. Recognizing that an educated community cannot thrive while excluding women from formal instruction, a dedicated coalition of community leaders and philanthropists took the initiative to establish a dedicated learning space for girls.
FOUNDER & HERITAGE
During a critical juncture when female literacy faced systemic hurdles, esteemed education advocate and reformer Zainul Abedin came forward to champion the cause of women's schooling. Driven by the mission to develop self-reliant, enlightened, and skilled female citizens, he mobilized local dignitaries, patrons, and education enthusiasts to establish the institution in 1952.
To honor the philanthropic spirit and enduring educational legacy of the great Bengali humanitarian Haji Muhammad Mohsin, the institution was formally named “Daulatpur Muhsin Girls’ High School.”
